Steve Millar

Managing Director

Steve first met Island Leisure’s founder, Alan Bell Snr, in 1983 while working together on property development projects. When the recession of 1989 hit, they combined their expertise to establish Island Leisure Lodges.

An architectural technician by training, Steve works closely with Richard to ensure each lodge is thoughtfully designed, practical, and visually appealing. Beyond the drawings, he builds strong, lasting relationships with customers, guiding projects from concept through to completion and beyond.

Mike Grant

Director

Mike began his career as a labourer for Alan Bell Snr and Pete Cooper, later completing his joinery apprenticeship and an HNC in construction management. In 1988, he and Ian Stewart built the first lodges for the Huntingtower Hotel, marking the start of Island Leisure’s lodge manufacturing journey.

After several years producing lodges on a subcontractor basis, Mike was invited to join Island Leisure as a director in 2001. Today, he oversees the company’s day-to-day operations, working closely with workshop coordinator Conor to manage logistics, the team, and the construction and siting of lodges.

Skilled in 2D and 3D CAD, Richard combines technical precision with creative problem-solving to produce polished drawings, detailed designs, and proposals that support the successful delivery of every Island Leisure project.

For the first 8 years, Conor focused on all aspects of site work, developing a strong, hands-on understanding of the construction process while building close relationships with customers.

More recently, Conor’s role has evolved to support Steve and Mike in coordinating the workshop, where he now manages the workshop team and oversees the manufacturing and siting of lodges.
